Tim Robbins was set to star in Brain Dead (originally titled Paranoia by Charles Beaumont) but left to make Jacob’s Ladder instead. And just as I noticed Catherine Hardwicke’s name in the credits and wondered if that was Catherine Hardwicke the director, Adam Simon brought up that she was a production designer and sings her praise. Whoa, things I’ve missed… …enjoying his commentary on the Australian dvd. He’s got a lot to say. I love this movie!
Harper’s Island premiered on ABC last night, without bp. Harry Hamlin is Uncle Marty in the pilot. Perhaps he’s a better 50ish lech than bp? I think so, but the externally more paternally bp could’ve and would’ve surprised us all, had he stuck around to do the mini-series. As I understand it, he was never officially signed up for the gig but lent his name to the project as a favor to director/producer Jon Turtletaub when production was announced.
Here’s Harry:
and here’s Bill:
spoiler–I think he’s dead.
This will be the last week here. I thought I’d maybe do some drive-by shooting (i.e., taking pictures!) last weekend, but alas, Opera Plaza doesn’t update its outside marquee anymore. Didn’t have the time to park and go inside the mini-mall to snap pics of the theater door unfortunately.
…for another week! That’s a week longer than nationally released Nobel Son!
Last week:

The man can’t remember the safe word so the woman keeps beating him: He was the president! It’s the actor! Bill Paxton!

The small theater was surprisingly packed. The audience was well-behaved overall. The one guy sitting in the row behind me was really into the movie, reacting loudly whenever he reacted—laughing at the things Phoebe or Olivia or Ms. Dodger said. Didn’t bother me or anybody though.
