On this day in 1939, one of the most famous scenes in movie history is filmed–Rhett Butler and Scarlett O’Hara parting in Gone with the Wind. Director Victor Fleming also shot the scene using the alternate line, "Frankly, my dear, I just don’t care," in case the film censors objected to the word "damn." The censors approved the movie but fined producer David O. Selznick $5,000 for including the curse.

SURVEILLANCE Los Angeles Premiere June 15, 2009
Though Stiles captures her role’s more obvious physical aspects, she doesn’t plumb the depths of her character the way Pullman does with John. He’s one of the only actors I’ve seen who makes Mamet’s language – especially stilted in this play – seem natural.
…Pullman has devised the perfect body language – twitches, restlessness, interrupted movement to match John’s halting, self-editing speech patterns. It’s a thoroughly studied yet completely convincing performance.

the critics are pleasantly surprised by bp’s take on Mamet (me, not surprised. there’s always been that about him, you know, the way he talks and delivers his lines)? see a sample review in the next post.
This video is like those short clips I’d record when testing a new camera. A fan? of whom, the play? Looks so random…
coming soon, hooray. the thing is though, i might not even go. for shame! i saw it at the roxie last october. if it’s not going to be shown on a larger screen than roxie’s, my 4th of july weekend won’t be scheduled around this movie. sorry bill.
