gerard butler on leno last night. comparison to id4 is unavoidable. the movie was entertaining enough even though the tone of it was darker and seriouser.

it’s weird to watch the whitehouse be attacked…when i saw independence day fifteen years ago, it was kind of funny to see it blown up cuz you didn’t think it was gonna happen. now we live in a world where it could happen…
I don’t get the casting. aaron eckhart as the young prez is tough but not as kick-ass as i’d imagined he would be. the movie could’ve gone with an older guy in the role. kept expecting president asher to break out of his cable ties and throw some punches (he’s a boxer you know)—did not happen.
so many movie presidents later, bp/whitmore still is one of the most memorable.
